Periods of accumulating rain are likely this afternoon and again on Wednesday...

More frequent periods of rain and scattered thunderstorms are likely at times from around or shortly after 12 Noon Today through about 6pm on Wednesday.

Average rainfall of 1-2 inches is likely for most of the local area during this time period, and a a few spots could see locally higher rainfall amounts (mainly in the 2-3 inch range) due to any repeat episodes of thunderstorms at a given location.

While rain is possible just about anytime during the aforementioned time period, at this time it appears that the majority of the more numerous to widespread and/or accumulating rainfall is likely to occur between 12 Noon and 6pm Today and then again between 6am and 6pm on Wednesday. While locally heavy downpours are possible at times with any of the activity, they may tend to be more numerous -at times- during the 6am-6pm Wednesday time period.

At this time we do not expect any "severe weather" (i.e., damaging winds, large hail, etc.) with any of the scattered thunderstorm activity during the period.

Locally heavy downpours of rain, especially associated with any thunderstorm activity, could produce standing water in some of the typical low water crossing type areas at times during the period. At this time this does not appear to be the type of situation where widespread and/or significant flooding problems are likely for most of the local area. The time period when locally heavy downpours could produce standing water in some low lying areas would most likely be at sporadic times between 6am and 6pm on Wednesday, but again, widespread issues do not appear likely at this time. We will watch for any localized issues that may develop as the situation unfolds and issue any appropriate alerts at that time if needed.

We will continue monitoring the situation and issue updates as conditions warrant.
